Uttar Pradesh Social Watch


Uttar Pradesh Social Watch (UPSW) is a coalition composed of like minded vibrant and active CSOs, media, academia and voluntary groups. Its focus areas in the state are poverty, draught, flood; campaign on RTI, MNREGS, and governance accountability.

It is deeply engaged in Uttar Pradesh in influencing the concurrent issues by monitoring performances of democratic institutions and processes in order to uphold inclusive democracy and human rights. It has been conducting research and influences the policies and programmes of institutions of governance for better delivery of goods and services.  It promotes collective voice of civil society for influencing the process of governance. It has been constantly endeavouring to facilitate a process to ensure government accountability.

It published and released Uttar Pradesh Citizen’s Report 2009 – “Flood, Draught and Poverty in Uttar Pradesh”. The report gives insight in to the poor state of Uttar Pradesh due to flood and draught and its strong linkages with poverty.
